SALT LAKE

Intermountain League Meet - Utah - Inspo: July 10 -12, 2009

  • The Utah Intermountain League Meet is on for July 10 – 12. The site is Inspo, where the US Nationals will be held in August. This is a good chance to get in some practice at Inspo before the Nats, and hopefully do some long flights.
  • Please go to usparaglidingcomps.com and register for the meet. Registration is free and it only takes a minute or so.
  • Thursday, July 9 will be a practice day at Inspo.
  • Race days will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 10 - 12.
  • Pilot check-in and meeting will be Friday morning, 9:30 am to 11 am, at Point of the Mountain North Side Park and Ride. Take I-15 exit 288, directly west of the Point North Side. The Park and Ride is just west of the I-15 exit ramp. We will head down to the Inspo LZ (about 45 minutes) at 11 am, then directly up to launch. On Saturday and Sunday there will be a brief meeting at 11 am at the Park and Ride to look at the sky.
  • Pilot meeting for the task call will be at 1 pm daily on launch.
  • Waypoints. This will be pretty easy. There are only 9 waypoints and you can manually enter them all into your gps in about 20 minutes. Set your coordinate format to decimal degrees (the format ending in .ddddd) Do a mark/enter at your current location, then edit the waypoint. Here are the waypoints:

  • A Few Details... You need to do a few things to be in the meet:
  1. Have the waypoints entered into your gps by Friday morning.
  2. Sign a waiver. I will have these at the Park and Ride.
  3. Join the Utah club, UHGPGA, if you are not already a member. I will have the forms and will collect this money at the Park and Ride. It costs $5 per day, $25 for a week, or $50 for the year.
  4. Pay $12 for each flying day. I will collect this money at the Park and Ride. If we don't fly, I will return this money. (This is a completely non-profit deal. All money goes to meet expenses, retrieve and beer; anything left over is returned to the pilots as prize money. There will be some sponsor prizes too.)
  5. Please have cash, exact change if possible.
  6. Check in with me in person before you launch.
  7. Check in with me (or somebody else to be named) by text message when you land.
  • Retrieve drivers are wanted... please... and will be thanked, respected, and reimbursed for mileage until the money runs out. Please note, however, that retrieve is not guaranteed. Actually, nothing is guaranteed.
  • If you can drive retrieve, or know someone who can, please contact me.
  • Scoring details will be figured out shortly. Please bring a cable for your gps, especially if your cable is something other than a mini usb or Flytec 50 series.
  • Please go to www.usparaglidingcomps.com and register for the meet. Registration is free and it only takes a minute or so. (I know I already said this. Registration will help us plan for retrieves and collect contact and emergency information so we do not waste time doing that instead of flying.)
  • Questions, please contact me: or 801-209-0890 (mobile).

See ya there – Cliff
